El Dorado City is one of the city of Union County, Arkansas, located towards the Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. It is home to over 21530 people (2000 census). As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 19905, making it the 17th most populous in Arkansas. The city comprises an area of 16.32 sq mi (42.27 kmē), of which, 16.27 square miles (42.14 kmē) of it is land and 0.05 square miles (0.13 kmē) of it is water, makes it the 28th largest by total area in Arkansas.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 21530 people, 8686 households, and 5734 families living in the city. The population density was 1323.3 people per square mile (510.93/kmē), it is Arkansas's 38th most densely populated city. There were 9891 housing units at an average density of 607.9 per square mile (234.71/kmē). The average household size was 2.4 persons, and the average family size was 2.99 persons.
