Effingham City is a one of the Effingham County, Illinois, located in Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. As per the 2000 census, city has a population of 12384 inhabitants. The July 2008 population estimate is 12489, It is the 178th largest by population in the U.S. state of Illinois. The city comprises an area of 8.73 miē (22.61 kmē), of which, 8.67 square miles (22.46 kmē) of it is land and 0.06 square miles (0.16 kmē) of it is water, making it the 100th largest by size in Illinois.
