Edwards County is a county in the United States of Kansas. Edwards County had an official population of 3449 in 2000. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 3082, making it Kansas's 23rd smallest county. Its area is just over 622.1 mi˛ (1611.23 sq km), of which, 622.02 square miles (1611.02 sq km) of it is land and 0.08 square miles (0.21 sq km) of it is water, making it the 24th smallest by size in Kansas.

As of the census of 2000, there were 3449 residents, 1455 households, and 956 families in the county. The population density was 5.5 people per square mile (2.12/km˛), it is Kansas's 31st least densely populated county. There were 1754 housing units at an average density of 2.8 per square mile (1.08/km˛). The average household size was 2.33 people, and the average family size was 2.94 people. In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 24.6% under the age of 18, 6.7% from 18 to 24, 25.1% from 25 to 44, 22.8% from 45 to 64, and 20.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 97.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.8 males. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 3082, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 97.96% White, 0.39% Black or African American, 0.58% American Indian, 0.36% Asian, 0% Native Hawaiian, and 0.71% from two or more races.
