Edmonson County is a county located in the United States of Kentucky. In 2000, county's population was 11644 inhabitants. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 12085, It is Kentucky's 31st least populous county. The county extends throughout a territory of 308.01 square miles (797.74 square kilometre ), of which, 302.62 square miles (783.78 square kilometre) of it is land and 5.39 square miles (13.96 square kilometre) of it is water, making it Kentucky's 64th largest county by total area.


According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 11644 people, 4648 households, and 3461 families living in the county. The population density was 38.5 people per square mile (14.86/kmē), it is 31st least densely populated county in Kentucky. There were 6104 housing units at an average density of 20.2 per square mile (7.8/kmē). The average household size was 2.47 persons, and the average family size was 2.88 persons. In the county Population was distributed with 23.6% under the age of 18, 9% from 18 to 24, 27.8% from 25 to 44, 25.3% from 45 to 64, and 14.4% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 97.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.3 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 12085, The racial makeup of the county was 11770 White, 176 Black or African American, 49 American Indian, 22 Asian, 0 Native Hawaiian, and 68 from two or more races.
