Edgewater Borough is a United States borough located in the Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. Edgewater Borough had an official population of 7677 in 2000. The July 2008 population estimate is 9635, It is the 211th largest by population in the U.S. state of New Jersey. The borough encompasses an area of 2.42 mi˛ (6.27 square kilometre ), of which, 0.85 square miles (2.2 square kilometre) of it is land and 1.57 square miles (4.07 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 248th largest by area in the U.S. state of New Jersey. It is ranks 17 in the size of its inland waterways in New Jersey.

The population density was 9060.6 people per square mile (3498.32/km˛), giving it the 37th most densely populated borough among the New Jersey. There were 4277 housing units at an average density of 5031.8 per square mile (1942.79/km˛). The average household size was 2 people, and the average family size was 2.7 people. In the borough the population is diverse age-wise, with 15.4% under the age of 18, 5.3% from 18 to 24, 46.7% from 25 to 44, 23.6% from 45 to 64, and 8.9% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 94.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.9 males. The median age of the borough's population was 36.3 years, the median age of male residents at 35.7 and the median age of female residents at 36.8. The racial makeup of the borough was 5153 White, 270 Black or African American, 16 American Indian, 1775 Asian, 3 Native Hawaiian, 234 from two or more races and 226 Ohter races.
