Edgefield Town, Edgefield County, South Carolina is a town located in the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. The town has a population of 4449 as per the 2000 census data. The July 2008 population estimate is 4418, It is the 92nd largest by population in the U.S. state of South Carolina. Its area is just over 4.15 mi˛ (10.75 sq km), of which, 4.07 square miles (10.54 sq km) of it is land and 0.08 square miles (0.21 sq km) of it is water, it is the 134th largest in terms of geographical size.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 4449 residents, 1080 households, and 698 families in the town. The population density was 1094.3 people per square mile (422.51/km˛), making it the 95th most densely populated town in South Carolina. There were 1229 housing units at an average density of 302 per square mile (116.6/km˛). It has an average household size was 2.34 persons, and the average family size was 2.96 persons. In the town the population was distributed as follows: 14.1% under the age of 18, 9% from 18 to 24, 44.1% from 25 to 44, 20% from 45 to 64, and 12.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 195.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 221.4 males. The median age was 35.8 years, the median age of male residents at 34.4 and the median age of female residents at 41.7. The racial makeup of the town was 1727 White, 2666 Black or African American, 22 American Indian, 14 Asian, Native Hawaiian, 12 from two or more races and 8 Ohter races.
