Eddy County is a one of the county from New Mexico's 33 counties, located in Western Region (Mountain) of United States. As per the 2000 census, county has a population of 51658 inhabitants. The July 2008 population estimate is 51360, making it New Mexico's 11th largest county. The county extends throughout a territory of 4197.57 sq mi (10871.66 square kilometre ), of which, 4182.02 square miles (10831.38 square kilometre) of it is land and 15.55 square miles (40.27 square kilometre) of it is water, makes it the 13th largest by total area in New Mexico. It is ranks fifth in the size of its inland waterways in New Mexico.

The population's age distribution was 28.9% under the age of 18, 8.4% from 18 to 24, 25.7% from 25 to 44, 22.4% from 45 to 64, and 14.7% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 95.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.7 males. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 51360, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 93.92% White, 2.31% Black or African American, 1.62% American Indian, 0.68% Asian, 0.16% Native Hawaiian, and 1.3% from two or more races.
