Ector County is a county located in Texas, in the Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 121123. Its population was estimated at 131941 in July 2008, It is the 27th largest in terms of population. It is spread over 901.68 miē (2335.34 kmē), of which, 901.06 square miles (2333.73 kmē ) of it is land and 0.62 square miles (1.61 kmē) of it is water, giving it the 160th largest by total area among Texas's county.

The population density was 134.4 people per square mile (51.89/kmē), it is 31st most densely populated county in Texas. There were 49500 housing units at an average density of 54.9 per square mile (21.2/kmē). The average household size was 2.72 and the average family size was 3.25. In the county the population was spread out, with 30.4% under the age of 18, 10.5% from 18 to 24, 27.9% from 25 to 44, 20.2% from 45 to 64, and 10.9% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 94.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.9 males. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 131941, The racial makeup of the county was 92.17% White, 4.84% Black or African American, 1.1% American Indian, 0.81% Asian, 0.06% Native Hawaiian, and 1.03% from two or more races.
