East Providence City, Rhode Island


East Providence City is one of the city of Providence County, Rhode Island, located towards the Northeastern Region (New England) of United States. According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the East Providence City is home to 48688 inhabitants. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the city is 48480, giving it the fifth largest population among Rhode Island. The city extends throughout a territory of 16.61 mi˛ (43.02 sq km ), of which, 13.41 square miles (34.73 sq km) of it is land and 3.21 square miles (8.31 sq km) of it is water, it is the fifth largest by area in the U.S. state of Rhode Island. It is ranks fifth in the size of its inland waterways in Rhode Island.

As of the census of 2000, there were 48688 people, 20530 households, and 12850 families living in the city. The population density was 3632.1 people per square mile (1402.36/km˛), it would be the seventh most densely populated city in the U.S. state of Rhode Island. There were 21309 housing units at an average density of 1589 per square mile (613.52/km˛). The average household size was 2.33 and the average family size was 2.99. In the city Age distribution was 21.7% under the age of 18, 7.4% from 18 to 24, 29.4% from 25 to 44, 22.6% from 45 to 64, and 18.9% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 86.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 82.6 males. The median age is 39.6 years, the median age of male residents at 37.8 and the median age of female residents at 41.5. The racial or ethnic makeup of the city was 42111 White, 2445 Black or African American, 225 American Indian, 559 Asian, 23 Native Hawaiian, 1964 from two or more races and 1361 Ohter races.
