East Newark Borough, New Jersey


East Newark Borough is a borough located in Hudson County, New Jersey, in the Northeastern Region (Mid-Atlantic) of United States. East Newark Borough had an official population of 2377 in 2000. The borough's estimated population as of July 2008 was 2138, making it the 113th least populous in New Jersey. The borough extends throughout a territory of 0.12 miē (0.31 kmē ), of which, 0.1 square miles (0.26 kmē) of it is land and 0.02 square miles (0.05 kmē) of it is water, it is the smallest by area in the U.S. state of New Jersey.

As of the census of 2000, there were 2377 people, 457 households, and 284 families residing in the borough. The population density was 23330 people per square mile (9007.76/kmē), making its New Jersey's sixth most densely populated borough. There were 799 housing units at an average density of 7990 per square mile (3084.96/kmē). The average household size was 3.1 and the average family size was 3.4. In the borough the population was distributed as follows: 25.9% under the age of 18, 10.9% from 18 to 24, 36.7% from 25 to 44, 18.8% from 45 to 64, and 7.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 103.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 104.5 males. The median age is 32.3 years, the median age of male residents at 30.9 and the median age of female residents at 33.4. The racial or ethnic makeup of the borough was 1593 White, 40 Black or African American, 12 American Indian, 60 Asian, 1 Native Hawaiian, 172 from two or more races and 499 Ohter races.
