East Jordan City, Michigan


East Jordan City is a one of the Charlevoix County, Michigan, located in Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 2507. The city's estimated population as of July 2008 was 2234, giving it the 275th largest population among Michigan. The city encompasses an area of 3.96 square miles (10.26 sq km ), of which, 3.06 square miles (7.93 sq km) of it is land and 0.9 square miles (2.33 sq km) of it is water, it is the 190th largest in terms of geographical size.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 2507 people, 946 households, and 658 families residing in the city. The population density was 818.7 people per square mile (316.1/kmē), making it the 410th most densely populated city in Michigan. There were 1083 housing units at an average density of 353.9 per square mile (136.64/kmē). The average household size was 2.63 persons, and the average family size was 3.11 persons. In the city the population was distributed as follows: 30.5% under the age of 18, 8.9% from 18 to 24, 28.6% from 25 to 44, 17.4% from 45 to 64, and 14.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 94.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 87.8 males. The median age of the city's population was 32.7 years, the median age of male residents at 31.2 and the median age of female residents at 34. The racial or ethnic makeup of the city was 2366 White, 10 Black or African American, 44 American Indian, 4 Asian, Native Hawaiian, 64 from two or more races and 19 Ohter races.
