East Alton Village is a one of the Madison County, Illinois, located in Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 6830 inhabitants. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 6563, It is the 258th largest in terms of population. The city encompasses an area of 5.63 mi˛ (14.58 sq km ), of which, 5.5 square miles (14.24 sq km) of it is land and 0.13 square miles (0.34 sq km) of it is water, making it Illinois's 188th largest by total area.

As of the census of 2000, there were 6830 people, 2965 households, and 1788 families living in the city. The population density was 1241.3 people per square mile (479.27/km˛), making it the 658th most densely populated city in Illinois. In the city the population was distributed as follows: 25.2% under the age of 18, 8.9% from 18 to 24, 28.8% from 25 to 44, 20.6% from 45 to 64, and 16.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 91.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 87.1 males. The median age is 36.3 years, the median age of male residents at 34.4 and the median age of female residents at 38. The racial or ethnic makeup of the city was 6606 White, 64 Black or African American, 17 American Indian, 26 Asian, 1 Native Hawaiian, 104 from two or more races and 12 Ohter races.
