Durant City is a United States city located in the Holmes County, Mississippi, United States. The population of the city was 2932 as per the 2000 census data. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 2720, It is the 95th largest by population in the U.S. state of Mississippi. The city extends throughout a territory of 2.25 sq mi (5.83 sq km ), of which, 2.23 square miles (5.78 sq km) of it is land and 0.02 square miles (0.05 sq km) of it is water, making it Mississippi's 179th largest by total area.

As of the census of 2000, there were 2932 people, 1075 households, and 745 families living in the city. The population density was 1316.4 people per square mile (508.26/kmē), it is the 51st most densely populated city in the U.S. state of Mississippi. There were 1209 housing units at an average density of 542.2 per square mile (209.34/kmē). The average household size was 2.68 people, and the average family size was 3.32 people. In the city the population was distributed as follows: 30.9% under the age of 18, 10.2% from 18 to 24, 24.1% from 25 to 44, 18.9% from 45 to 64, and 15.9% who were 65 or older.
