Duplin County is a one of the county from North Carolina's 100 counties, located in Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. In 2000, the population was 49063. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 53362, It is the 50th most populous county in the U.S. state of North Carolina. It is spread over 819.11 square miles (2121.49 square kilometre), of which, 817.73 square miles (2117.91 square kilometre ) of it is land and 1.38 square miles (3.57 square kilometre) of it is water, making it North Carolina's 13th largest county by total area.

In the county Age distribution was 26.1% under the age of 18, 9.6% from 18 to 24, 29.3% from 25 to 44, 22.1% from 45 to 64, and 12.9% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 98.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.6 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 53362, The racial makeup of the county was 38674 White, 13900 Black or African American, 204 American Indian, 142 Asian, 53 Native Hawaiian, and 389 from two or more races.
