In 2000, census designated place's population was 32808 inhabitants. making it the 19th most populous in Georgia. Its area is just over 12.12 square miles (31.39 square kilometre), of which, 12.08 square miles (31.29 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.04 square miles (0.1 square kilometre) of it is water, making it the 64th largest by size in Georgia.
