Dunnellon City is a one of the Marion County, Florida, located in Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. In 2000, city's population was 1898 inhabitants. The July 2008 population estimate is 2009, It is 250th least populous in Florida. The city comprises an area of 7.43 sq mi (19.24 sq km), of which, 7.05 square miles (18.26 sq km) of it is land and 0.38 square miles (0.98 sq km) of it is water, it is the 244th largest in terms of geographical size.

As of the census of 2000, there were 1898 people, 950 households, and 556 families residing in the city. The population density was 269.3 people per square mile (103.98/kmē), it is the 78th least populated city in terms of population density. There were 1128 housing units at an average density of 160 per square mile (61.78/kmē). The average household size was 2 persons, and the average family size was 2.59 persons. In the city the population was distributed as follows: 17.2% under the age of 18, 5.1% from 18 to 24, 17.7% from 25 to 44, 24.6% from 45 to 64, and 35.5% who were 65 or older. The racial makeup of the city was 85.72% White, 11.85% Black or African American, 0.11% American Indian, 0.53% Asian, 0.05% Native Hawaiian, 1.26% from two or more races and 0.47% Other races.
