Dunn County is a county located in the United States of North Dakota. The county has a population of 3600 as per the 2000 census data. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 3318, It is the 33rd largest county by population in the U.S. state of North Dakota. The county encompasses an area of 2082.25 sq mi (5393 square kilometre ), of which, 2009.6 square miles (5204.84 square kilometre) of it is land and 72.65 square miles (188.16 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the fifth largest by area in the U.S. state of North Dakota. It is ranks eighth in the size of its inland waterways in North Dakota.

As of the census of 2000, there were 3600 people in the county, organized into 1378 households, and 987 families residing in the county. The population density was 1.8 people per square mile (0.69/kmē), it is North Dakota's fifth least densely populated county. There were 1965 housing units at an average density of 1 per square mile (0.39/kmē). The average household size was 2.57 persons, and the average family size was 3.11 persons. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 27.4% under the age of 18, 5.8% from 18 to 24, 23.6% from 25 to 44, 25.9% from 45 to 64, and 17.4% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 104.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 103.6 males. The July 2008 population estimate is 3318, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 2818 White, 2 Black or African American, 467 American Indian, 3 Asian, 0 Native Hawaiian, and 28 from two or more races.
