Dover Town, New Jersey


Dover Town is one of the town of Morris County, New Jersey, located towards the Northeastern Region (Mid-Atlantic) of United States. As per the 2000 census, town has a population of 18188 inhabitants. In July 2008, its estimated population was 17860, making it the 77th most populous in New Jersey. Its area is just over 2.7 square miles (6.99 sq km), of which, 2.68 square miles (6.94 sq km) of it is land and 0.03 square miles (0.08 sq km) of it is water, it is the 225th largest in terms of geographical size.

As of the census of 2000, there were 18188 residents, 457 households, and 284 families in the town. The population density was 6788.2 people per square mile (2620.94/kmē), it is New Jersey's 64th most densely populated town. There were 5568 housing units at an average density of 2077.6 per square mile (802.17/kmē). The average household size was 3.29 persons, and the average family size was 3.55 persons. In the town the population was spread out, with 23.2% under the age of 18, 10.5% from 18 to 24, 36% from 25 to 44, 19.8% from 45 to 64, and 10.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 94 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 93.7 females. The median age is 33.7 years, the median age of male residents at 32.4 and the median age of female residents at 35.3. The racial or ethnic makeup of the town was 69.45% White, 6.83% Black or African American, 0.34% American Indian, 2.47% Asian, 0.03% Native Hawaiian, 4.89% from two or more races and 15.99% Other races.
