Douglas County is one of the 72 county of Wisconsin, located towards the Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. The county has a population of 43287 as per the 2000 census data. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 43774, It is Wisconsin's 32nd most populous county. It is spread over 1479.91 miē (3832.95 kmē), of which, 1309.13 square miles (3390.63 kmē ) of it is land and 170.78 square miles (442.32 kmē) of it is water, making it Wisconsin's seventh largest county by total area.

The population's age distribution was 23.6% under the age of 18, 10.3% from 18 to 24, 28% from 25 to 44, 23.6% from 45 to 64, and 14.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 97.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.4 males. In July 2008, its estimated population was 43774, The racial makeup of the county was 41556 White, 282 Black or African American, 870 American Indian, 394 Asian, 13 Native Hawaiian, and 659 from two or more races.
