Douglas County is a United States county located in the United States of Nevada. According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Douglas County is home to 41259 inhabitants. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 45180, It is Nevada's sixth most populous county. It has total area of 737.65 square miles (1910.5 square kilometre), of which, 709.85 square miles (1838.5 square kilometre) of it is land and 27.8 square miles (72 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the third smallest in terms of geographical size. It is ranks sixth in the size of its inland waterways in Nevada.

As of the census of 2000, there were 41259 people, 16401 households, and 11894 families living in the county. The population density was 58.1 people per square mile (22.43/kmē), it is the third most populated county in terms of population density. There were 19006 housing units at an average density of 26.8 per square mile (10.35/kmē). The average household size was 2.5 persons, and the average family size was 2.88 persons. In the Douglas County, 24% of the population was under the age of 18, 5.5% were 18 to 24, 26.4% were 25 to 44, 28.9% were 45 to 64, and 15.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 102.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 100.7 males. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 45180, The racial makeup of the county was 42183 White, 322 Black or African American, 820 American Indian, 873 Asian, 80 Native Hawaiian, and 902 from two or more races.
