Douglas County is a county located in Colorado, in the Western Region (Mountain) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 175766. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 280621, making it the eighth most populous county in Colorado. The county spans an area of 842.75 miē (2182.71 kmē), of which, 840.11 square miles (2175.87 kmē) of it is land and 2.64 square miles (6.84 kmē) of it is water, makes it the 17th smallest by total area in Colorado.

As of the census of 2000, there were 175766 residents, 60924 households, and 49850 families in the county. The population density was 209.2 people per square mile (80.77/kmē), it is the seventh most populated county in terms of population density. There were 63333 housing units at an average density of 75.4 per square mile (29.11/kmē). The average household size was 2.88 and the average family size was 3.19. In the county the population was spread out, with 31.6% under the age of 18, 4.8% from 18 to 24, 37.9% from 25 to 44, 21.6% from 45 to 64, and 4.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 99.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.4 males. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 280621, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 92.32% White, 1.89% Black or African American, 0.49% American Indian, 3.53% Asian, 0.06% Native Hawaiian, and 1.71% from two or more races.
