Donley County, Texas is a county of the United States of Texas. The county has a population of 3828 as per the 2000 census data. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 3850, It is the 43rd smallest county by population in the U.S. state of Texas. Its area is just over 933.05 square miles (2416.59 sq km), of which, 929.77 square miles (2408.09 sq km) of it is land and 3.28 square miles (8.5 sq km) of it is water, making it Texas's 109th largest county by total area.


As of the census of 2000, there were 3828 people, 1578 households, and 1057 families residing in the county. The population density was 4.1 people per square mile (1.58/kmē), it is the 45th least densely populated county in the U.S. state of Texas. There were 2378 housing units at an average density of 2.6 per square mile (1/kmē). The average household size was 2.3 people, and the average family size was 2.86 people. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 22.4% under the age of 18, 9.8% from 18 to 24, 20.6% from 25 to 44, 25.5% from 45 to 64, and 21.7% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 94.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.7 males. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 3850, The racial makeup of the county was 3541 White, 224 Black or African American, 42 American Indian, 6 Asian, 0 Native Hawaiian, and 37 from two or more races.
