Its area is just over 933.05 square miles (2416.59 sq km), of which, 929.77 square miles (2408.09 sq km) of it is land and 3.28 square miles (8.5 sq km) of it is water, making it Texas's 109th largest county by total area.

For every 100 females there were 94.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.7 males.
