Dinwiddie County is a county in the United States of Virginia. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 24533 inhabitants. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 26082, making it the 63rd most populous county in Virginia. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 506.98 square miles (1313.07 sq km), of which, 503.67 square miles (1304.5 sq km) of it is land and 3.31 square miles (8.57 sq km) of it is water, it is the 26th largest by area in the U.S. state of Virginia.

For every 100 females there were 98.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96 males. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 26082, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 65.98% White, 32.19% Black or African American, 0.22% American Indian, 0.58% Asian, 0.04% Native Hawaiian, and 0.99% from two or more races.
