Dillon County is a county located in South Carolina, in the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. In 2000, the population was 30722. In July 2008, its estimated population was 30698, giving it the 15th smallest population among South Carolina's county. The county extends throughout a territory of 406.54 sq mi (1052.93 kmē ), of which, 404.84 square miles (1048.53 kmē) of it is land and 1.7 square miles (4.4 kmē) of it is water, it is the fifth smallest in terms of geographical size.

The population density was 75.9 people per square mile (29.31/kmē), making it the 23rd most densely populated county in South Carolina. In the county Age distribution was 29.1% under the age of 18, 9.5% from 18 to 24, 27.5% from 25 to 44, 22.4% from 45 to 64, and 11.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 114.4 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 122.5 females. In July 2008, its estimated population was 30698, The racial makeup of the county was 50.07% White, 46.08% Black or African American, 2.58% American Indian, 0.36% Asian, 0.03% Native Hawaiian, and 0.88% from two or more races.
