Dewey County is a county in the United States of Oklahoma. In 2000, the population was 4743. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 4389, It is sixth least populous county in Oklahoma. The county has a total area of 1008.26 mi˛ (2611.38 sq km), of which, 1000.13 square miles (2590.32 sq km) of it is land and 8.13 square miles (21.06 sq km) of it is water, making it Oklahoma's 20th largest county by total area.

The population density was 4.7 people per square mile (1.81/km˛), giving it the sixth least densely populated county among the Oklahoma. There were 2425 housing units at an average density of 2.4 per square mile (0.93/km˛). It has an average household size was 2.35 persons, and the average family size was 2.93 persons. In the Dewey County, 23.3% of the population was under the age of 18, 7.1% were 18 to 24, 22.9% were 25 to 44, 25.7% were 45 to 64, and 21% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 94.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.3 males. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 4389, The racial makeup of the county was 3998 White, 6 Black or African American, 263 American Indian, 3 Asian, 1 Native Hawaiian, and 118 from two or more races.
