Deuel County is a one of the county from South Dakota's 66 counties, located in Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 4498. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 4276, It is the 38th largest in terms of population. It has total area of 636.72 square miles (1649.1 square kilometre), of which, 623.55 square miles (1614.99 square kilometre) of it is land and 13.17 square miles (34.11 square kilometre) of it is water, making it the 18th smallest by size in South Dakota.

For every 100 females there were 99.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 99.6 males. The July 2008 population estimate is 4276, The racial makeup of the county was 98.36% White, 0.16% Black or African American, 0.44% American Indian, 0.16% Asian, 0.05% Native Hawaiian, and 0.82% from two or more races.
