Denver County is one of the 63 county of Colorado, located towards the Western Region (Mountain) of United States. Denver County had an official population of 554636 in 2000. The July 2008 population estimate is 598707, It is the most populous county in the U.S. state of Colorado. The county extends throughout a territory of 154.94 square miles (401.29 kmē ), of which, 153.35 square miles (397.17 kmē) of it is land and 1.59 square miles (4.12 kmē) of it is water, it is the second smallest by area in the U.S. state of Colorado.

As of the census of 2000, there were 554636 people, 239235 households, and 119300 families residing in the county. The population density was 3616.8 people per square mile (1396.45/kmē), it is the most densely populated county in the U.S. state of Colorado. There were 251435 housing units at an average density of 1639.6 per square mile (633.05/kmē). The average household size was 2.27 and the average family size was 3.14. In the county Age distribution was 22% under the age of 18, 10.7% from 18 to 24, 36.1% from 25 to 44, 20% from 45 to 64, and 11.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 97.9 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 98.9 females.
