It is the 31st largest by population in the U.S. state of South Carolina. Its area is just over 7.22 mi˛ (18.7 square kilometre), of which, 7.05 square miles (18.26 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.17 square miles (0.44 square kilometre) of it is water, giving it the 71st largest by total area among South Carolina.
