Delta County is a county located in the United States of Michigan. As of 2000 the population was 38520. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 37179, It is the 43rd largest in terms of population. Its area is just over 1991.58 sq mi (5158.17 sq km), of which, 1170.03 square miles (3030.36 sq km) of it is land and 821.56 square miles (2127.83 sq km) of it is water, making it the tenth largest by size in Michigan.

The population density was 32.9 people per square mile (12.7/kmē), making its Michigan's 20th least densely populated county. There were 19223 housing units at an average density of 16.4 per square mile (6.33/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.4 persons, and the average family size was 2.93 persons. In the county Age distribution was 23.8% under the age of 18, 7.9% from 18 to 24, 26% from 25 to 44, 25.4% from 45 to 64, and 17% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 96.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.6 males. Its population was estimated at 37179 in July 2008, The racial makeup of the county was 95.27% White, 0.32% Black or African American, 2.4% American Indian, 0.31% Asian, 0.04% Native Hawaiian, and 1.65% from two or more races.
