Delta County is a county in the United States of Colorado. The population of the county was 27834 as per the 2000 census data. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 30923, It is Colorado's 18th most populous county. It is spread over 1148.52 mi˛ (2974.65 square kilometre), of which, 1142.11 square miles (2958.05 square kilometre ) of it is land and 6.42 square miles (16.63 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 40th largest in terms of geographical size.

As of the census of 2000, there were 27834 people, 11058 households, and 7940 families residing in the county. The population density was 24.4 people per square mile (9.42/km˛), it is Colorado's 18th most densely populated county. There were 12374 housing units at an average density of 10.8 per square mile (4.17/km˛). The average household size was 2.43 people, and the average family size was 2.89 people. In the county the population was spread out, with 24% under the age of 18, 6.3% from 18 to 24, 23.6% from 25 to 44, 26.5% from 45 to 64, and 19.7% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 100.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98.6 males. In July 2008, its estimated population was 30923, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 29776 White, 219 Black or African American, 270 American Indian, 159 Asian, 15 Native Hawaiian, and 484 from two or more races.
