Delaware County is one of the 92 county of Indiana, located towards the Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. The population of the county was 118769 as per the 2000 census data. The July 2008 population estimate is 114685, It is the 14th largest in terms of population. It covers total area of 395.92 mi˛ (1025.43 sq km), of which, 393.29 square miles (1018.62 sq km) of it is land and 2.63 square miles (6.81 sq km) of it is water, it is the 51st largest by area in the U.S. state of Indiana.

The population's age distribution was 22.1% under the age of 18, 16.9% from 18 to 24, 25.6% from 25 to 44, 21.9% from 45 to 64, and 13.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 92.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.2 males. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 114685, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 103877 White, 7818 Black or African American, 300 American Indian, 1120 Asian, 78 Native Hawaiian, and 1492 from two or more races.
