Del Norte County is a county located in the United States of California. As per the 2000 census, county has a population of 27507 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 29100, It is the 11th least populous county in the U.S. state of California. It is spread over 1229.75 square miles (3185.04 square kilometre), of which, 1007.81 square miles (2610.22 square kilometre ) of it is land and 221.94 square miles (574.82 square kilometre) of it is water, making it the 39th largest by size in California.

As of the census of 2000, there were 27507 people in the county, organized into 9170 households, and 6293 families residing in the county. The population density was 27.3 people per square mile (10.54/kmē), it is California's 16th least densely populated county. There were 10434 housing units at an average density of 10.4 per square mile (4.02/kmē). The average household size was 2.58 people, and the average family size was 3.08 people. In the county the population was spread out, with 25.1% under the age of 18, 8% from 18 to 24, 32.2% from 25 to 44, 22.3% from 45 to 64, and 12.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 123.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 130.3 males. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 29100, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 23946 White, 1305 Black or African American, 2000 American Indian, 746 Asian, 24 Native Hawaiian, and 1079 from two or more races.
