Defiance County is a United States county located in the United States of Ohio. According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Defiance County is home to 39500 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 38637, making it Ohio's 24th smallest county. The county extends throughout a territory of 414.19 square miles (1072.75 sq km ), of which, 411.16 square miles (1064.9 sq km) of it is land and 3.03 square miles (7.85 sq km) of it is water, making it the 22nd smallest by size in Ohio.

For every 100 females there were 97.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.9 males. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 38637, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 37227 White, 808 Black or African American, 116 American Indian, 132 Asian, 13 Native Hawaiian, and 341 from two or more races.
