Decatur County is a county located in the United States of Tennessee. The population of the county was 11731 as per the 2000 census data. In July 2008, its estimated population was 11288, It is the 11th smallest county by population in the U.S. state of Tennessee. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 344.91 miē (893.31 kmē), of which, 333.9 square miles (864.8 kmē) of it is land and 11.01 square miles (28.52 kmē) of it is water, it is the 31st smallest by area in the U.S. state of Tennessee.


As of the census of 2000, there were 11731 people in the county, organized into 4908 households, and 3415 families living in the county. The population density was 35.1 people per square mile (13.55/kmē), making its Tennessee's 11th least densely populated county. There were 6448 housing units at an average density of 19.3 per square mile (7.45/kmē). The average household size was 2.34 people, and the average family size was 2.82 people. In the county Age distribution was 21.7% under the age of 18, 7.9% from 18 to 24, 25.9% from 25 to 44, 26.3% from 45 to 64, and 18.2% who were 65 or older.
