Decatur County is a county located in the United States of Kansas. Decatur County had an official population of 3472 in 2000. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 2912, It is Kansas's 19th least populous county. The county has a total area of 894.18 sq mi (2315.92 square kilometre), of which, 893.55 square miles (2314.28 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.63 square miles (1.63 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 36th largest in terms of geographical size.

In the county the population was distributed as follows: 23.6% under the age of 18, 4.7% from 18 to 24, 22.9% from 25 to 44, 22.6% from 45 to 64, and 26.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 97.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.4 males. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 2912, The racial makeup of the county was 2852 White, 23 Black or African American, 4 American Indian, 5 Asian, 6 Native Hawaiian, and 22 from two or more races.
