De Bary City is a city in the Volusia County, Florida, United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 15559 inhabitants. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the city is 16303, It is 180th most populous in Florida. The city extends throughout a territory of 21.44 sq mi (55.53 sq km ), of which, 18.22 square miles (47.19 sq km) of it is land and 3.22 square miles (8.34 sq km) of it is water, making it Florida's 78th largest by total area.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 15559 people, 6538 households, and 4723 families living in the city. The population density was 853.8 people per square mile (329.65/kmē), giving it the 258th least densely populated city among the Florida. There were 7001 housing units at an average density of 384.2 per square mile (148.34/kmē). The average household size was 2.37 persons, and the average family size was 2.76 persons. In the city the population was spread out, with 20% under the age of 18, 4.9% from 18 to 24, 24.9% from 25 to 44, 27.2% from 45 to 64, and 23% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 108.6 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 113.2 females. The median age was 45.1 years, the median age of male residents at 43.7 and the median age of female residents at 46.5. The racial or ethnic makeup of the city was 14772 White, 296 Black or African American, 31 American Indian, 176 Asian, 1 Native Hawaiian, 149 from two or more races and 134 Ohter races.
