The county has a total area of 1019.3 square miles (2639.97 sq km), of which, 1012.92 square miles (2623.45 sq km) of it is land and 6.37 square miles (16.5 sq km) of it is water, it is the 15th largest by area in the U.S. state of Nebraska.
