Dawson County is one of the 56 county of Montana, located towards the Western Region (Mountain) of United States. According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Dawson County is home to 9059 inhabitants. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 8490, It is the 26th most populous county in the U.S. state of Montana. The county comprises an area of 2383.13 sq mi (6172.28 sq km), of which, 2373.14 square miles (6146.4 sq km) of it is land and 9.99 square miles (25.87 sq km) of it is water, making it Montana's 28th largest county by total area.
