Dawson County, Georgia is a county of the United States of Georgia. In 2000, the population was 15999. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 22006, making it the 82nd most populous county in Georgia. It is spread over 213.93 square miles (554.08 square kilometre), of which, 211.04 square miles (546.59 square kilometre ) of it is land and 2.9 square miles (7.51 square kilometre) of it is water, makes it the 24th smallest by total area in Georgia.


According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 15999 people, 6069 households, and 4687 families living in the county. The population density was 75.8 people per square mile (29.27/kmē), it would be the 64th most densely populated county in the U.S. state of Georgia. There were 7163 housing units at an average density of 33.9 per square mile (13.09/kmē). The average household size was 2.62 people, and the average family size was 2.98 people. In the county Age distribution was 25.1% under the age of 18, 7.6% from 18 to 24, 32.5% from 25 to 44, 25.5% from 45 to 64, and 9.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 99.1 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 100.6 females.
