Davis County is a one of the county from Iowa's 99 counties, located in Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. In 2000, the population was 8541. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 8569, It is Iowa's 15th least populous county. The county extends throughout a territory of 504.89 sq mi (1307.66 kmē ), of which, 503.24 square miles (1303.39 kmē) of it is land and 1.65 square miles (4.27 kmē) of it is water, it is the 29th smallest by area in the U.S. state of Iowa.

The population density was 17 people per square mile (6.56/kmē), it is 12th least densely populated county in Iowa. There were 3530 housing units at an average density of 7 per square mile (2.7/kmē). The average household size was 2.61 and the average family size was 3.13. In the county Population was distributed with 27.1% under the age of 18, 7.4% from 18 to 24, 25.2% from 25 to 44, 22.9% from 45 to 64, and 17.4% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 97.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.1 males. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 8569, The racial makeup of the county was 98.44% White, 0.22% Black or African American, 0.25% American Indian, 0.22% Asian, 0.04% Native Hawaiian, and 0.84% from two or more races.
