Daviess County, Missouri is a county located in the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. In 2000, the population was 8016. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 7911, giving it the 17th smallest population among Missouri's county. It covers total area of 569.07 sq mi (1473.88 kmē), of which, 566.97 square miles (1468.45 kmē) of it is land and 2.11 square miles (5.46 kmē) of it is water, giving it the 64th largest by total area among Missouri's county.

As of the census of 2000, there were 8016 people in the county, organized into 3178 households, and 2265 families living in the county. The population density was 14.1 people per square mile (5.44/kmē), it is 19th least densely populated county in Missouri. There were 3853 housing units at an average density of 6.8 per square mile (2.63/kmē). The average household size was 2.5 persons, and the average family size was 3.02 persons. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 27% under the age of 18, 7.6% from 18 to 24, 24.1% from 25 to 44, 23.7% from 45 to 64, and 17.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 92.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.9 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 7911, The racial makeup of the county was 98.66% White, 0.05% Black or African American, 0.44% American Indian, 0.09% Asian, 0.21% Native Hawaiian, and 0.54% from two or more races.
