Daviess County is one of the 92 county of Indiana, located towards the Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. The population of county in 2000 stood at 29820 as per the Census data. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 30147, It is the 54th largest county by population in the U.S. state of Indiana. The county extends throughout a territory of 436.86 miē (1131.46 kmē ), of which, 430.66 square miles (1115.4 kmē) of it is land and 6.2 square miles (16.06 kmē) of it is water, it is the 26th largest by area in the U.S. state of Indiana.

The population density was 69.2 people per square mile (26.72/kmē), it is 58th most densely populated county in Indiana. There were 11898 housing units at an average density of 27.6 per square mile (10.66/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.69 persons, and the average family size was 3.24 persons. In the county the population was spread out, with 29% under the age of 18, 8.6% from 18 to 24, 26.2% from 25 to 44, 21.7% from 45 to 64, and 14.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 97.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.6 males. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 30147, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 29603 White, 185 Black or African American, 75 American Indian, 87 Asian, 7 Native Hawaiian, and 190 from two or more races.
