Davie County is a one of the county from North Carolina's 100 counties, located in Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. In 2000, the population was 34835. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 40971, It is North Carolina's 61st most populous county. The county encompasses an area of 266.89 mi˛ (691.24 square kilometre ), of which, 265.18 square miles (686.81 square kilometre) of it is land and 1.7 square miles (4.4 square kilometre) of it is water, making it North Carolina's tenth smallest county by total area.


According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 34835 people, 13750 households, and 10261 families living in the county. The population density was 131.4 people per square mile (50.73/km˛), making it the 39th most densely populated county in North Carolina. There were 14953 housing units at an average density of 56.4 per square mile (21.78/km˛). It has an average household size was 2.51 persons, and the average family size was 2.91 persons. Age range in the county was well distributed with 24.3% under the age of 18, 7.1% from 18 to 24, 29.4% from 25 to 44, 25.5% from 45 to 64, and 13.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 97 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94 males. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 40971, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 37428 White, 2828 Black or African American, 129 American Indian, 214 Asian, 7 Native Hawaiian, and 365 from two or more races.
