Davidson County is one of the 100 county of North Carolina, located towards the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. The population of county in 2000 stood at 147246 as per the Census data. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 158166, It is the 14th largest in terms of population. The county extends throughout a territory of 566.77 sq mi (1467.93 square kilometre ), of which, 552.15 square miles (1430.06 square kilometre) of it is land and 14.62 square miles (37.87 square kilometre) of it is water, makes it the 31st largest by total area in North Carolina.

The population density was 266.7 people per square mile (102.97/kmē), it is the 14th most densely populated county in the U.S. state of North Carolina. There were 62432 housing units at an average density of 113.1 per square mile (43.67/kmē). The average household size was 2.5 and the average family size was 2.92. In the county the population was spread out, with 24.3% under the age of 18, 7.6% from 18 to 24, 31.2% from 25 to 44, 24.1% from 45 to 64, and 12.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 96 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.7 males. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 158166, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 88.24% White, 9.37% Black or African American, 0.43% American Indian, 1.05% Asian, 0.02% Native Hawaiian, and 0.89% from two or more races.
