Darien City is a city in the DuPage County, Illinois, United States. The population of the city was 22860 as per the 2000 census data. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the city is 22370, making it the 92nd most populous in Illinois. The city comprises an area of 6.12 square miles (15.85 square kilometre), of which, 6.04 square miles (15.64 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.07 square miles (0.18 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 171st largest by area in the U.S. state of Illinois.

As of the census of 2000, there were 22860 people, 8735 households, and 6457 families living in the city.
