As of July 2008, the estimated population of the city is 35700, It is the 210th most populous in the U.S. state of California. The city has a total area of 29.44 sq mi (76.25 sq km), of which, 6.64 square miles (17.2 sq km) of it is land and 22.8 square miles (59.05 sq km) of it is water, makes it the 89th largest by total area in California. It is ranks seventh in the size of its inland waterways in California.
