Dalton Borough is a United States borough located in the Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population of the borough was 1294 as per the 2000 census data. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 1224, It is the 783rd largest by population in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. The borough extends throughout a territory of 3.16 mi˛ (8.18 sq km ), of which, 3.1 square miles (8.03 sq km) of it is land and 0.06 square miles (0.16 sq km) of it is water, giving it the 206th largest by total area among Pennsylvania.

As of the census of 2000, there were 1294 people, 500 households, and 358 families residing in the borough. The population density was 417.4 people per square mile (161.16/km˛), it is the 175th least populated borough in terms of population density. There were 519 housing units at an average density of 167.4 per square mile (64.63/km˛). The average household size was 2.55 people, and the average family size was 3.08 people. In the borough the population was spread out, with 26.4% under the age of 18, 6.7% from 18 to 24, 25% from 25 to 44, 26.8% from 45 to 64, and 15.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 95.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 88.3 males. The median age is 39.8 years, the median age of male residents at 36.8 and the median age of female residents at 41.9. The racial or ethnic makeup of the borough was 1283 White, Black or African American, American Indian, 6 Asian, Native Hawaiian, 5 from two or more races and Ohter races.
