Dallas County, Texas is a county of the United States of Texas. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 2218899 inhabitants. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 2412827, making it the second most populous county in Texas. It has total area of 908.56 square miles (2353.16 kmē), of which, 879.6 square miles (2278.15 kmē) of it is land and 28.96 square miles (75.01 kmē) of it is water, making it Texas's 147th largest county by total area.

The population density was 2522.6 people per square mile (973.98/kmē), it is the most densely populated county in the U.S. state of Texas. There were 854119 housing units at an average density of 971 per square mile (374.91/kmē). The average household size was 2.71 persons, and the average family size was 3.34 persons. In the county Age distribution was 27.9% under the age of 18, 10.7% from 18 to 24, 34.4% from 25 to 44, 18.9% from 45 to 64, and 8.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 99.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 2412827, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 72.49% White, 20.69% Black or African American, 0.77% American Indian, 4.58% Asian, 0.16% Native Hawaiian, and 1.32% from two or more races.
