Dallas County is a United States county located in the United States of Missouri. In 2000, the population was 15661. In July 2008, its estimated population was 16844, It is the 66th largest county by population in the U.S. state of Missouri. It has total area of 542.83 sq mi (1405.92 kmē), of which, 541.54 square miles (1402.58 kmē) of it is land and 1.29 square miles (3.34 kmē) of it is water, it is the 70th largest by area in the U.S. state of Missouri.


As of the census of 2000, there were 15661 residents, 6030 households, and 4381 families in the county. The population density was 28.9 people per square mile (11.16/kmē), it would be the 63rd most densely populated county in the U.S. state of Missouri. There were 6914 housing units at an average density of 12.8 per square mile (4.94/kmē). The average household size was 2.57 and the average family size was 3.04. In the county Population was distributed with 27.5% under the age of 18, 7.4% from 18 to 24, 26.4% from 25 to 44, 23.5% from 45 to 64, and 15.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 98.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.7 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 16844, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 16302 White, 90 Black or African American, 139 American Indian, 54 Asian, 6 Native Hawaiian, and 253 from two or more races.
