Dallas City is a one of the Dallas, Collin, Denton, Rockwall and Kaufman counties, Texas, located in Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. In 2000, city's population was 1188580 inhabitants. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 1279910, It is second most populous in Texas. The city spans an area of 385 square miles (997.15 sq km), of which, 342.54 square miles (887.17 sq km) of it is land and 42.46 square miles (109.97 sq km) of it is water, making it the fourth largest by size in Texas. It is ranks fifth in the size of its inland waterways in Texas.

As of the census of 2000, there were 1188580 residents, 451833 households, and 266789 families in the city. The population density was 3469.9 people per square mile (1339.74/kmē), giving it the 44th most densely populated city among the Texas. There were 484117 housing units at an average density of 1413.3 per square mile (545.68/kmē). The average household size was 2.58 persons, and the average family size was 3.37 persons. In the city the population was spread out, with 26.6% under the age of 18, 11.8% from 18 to 24, 35.3% from 25 to 44, 17.7% from 45 to 64, and 8.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 98.4 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 99.5 females. The median age was 30.5 years, the median age of male residents at 29.8 and the median age of female residents at 31.3. The racial makeup of the city was 604209 White, 307957 Black or African American, 6472 American Indian, 32118 Asian, 590 Native Hawaiian, 32351 from two or more races and 204883 Ohter races.
